As a results-oriented and highly respected leader & mentor, Sal Aquilato has built and directed multi disciplined teams, developed and implemented new policies and procedures and driven the expansion goals for nationally recognized companies. He has been instrumental in corporate reorganization and restored client confidence by consistently delivering innovative products, services, and programs to maximize profits. With a career spanning more than 30 years he has attained a lengthy record of progressive responsibility, knowledge and deep expertise in all facets of the design, development, procurement, construction & facilities management processes.
Entering the workforce in the role of laborer for Edward Robbins, Inc., a well established General Contracting/Construction Management firm, he gained invaluable hands on experience and his career escalated rapidly. As a Project Manager he focused his efforts on introducing modern methods of construction management. Later, as the Executive Vice President & Principal he implemented countless improvements, dramatically increased revenues and improved overall quality that returned this 100 year old Construction Management firm to profitability while re-establishing its position as a respected player in the highly competitive NYC marketplace. While focusing on a wide range of sectors such as commercial interiors, healthcare, banking, residential, institutional, entertainment & sports stadiums, he created and managed a retail division that provided owners representative services for many top tier retail firms.
One of the more interesting projects during his time at Robbins was the $148 million renovation of Shea Stadium, the former home of the New York Mets. Sal’s roll as Project Executive gave him the responsibility of managing over 200 union workers as well as acting as liaison for funding sources and various city and state agencies.
Sal’s career path moved seamlessly to the owner’s representative role leading the design, construction and facilities management for internationally known companies such as Prime Hospitality, a premiere lodging company that owned, managed, developed and franchised more than 240 hotels throughout North America & the Caribbean. As the Vice President of Design & Construction, Sal managed over $200 million in capital construction and $1.5 billion of acquisitions and development.
Taking on the roll of Vice President of Design & Construction for The Benihana Restaurant Group, a 40 year old iconic brand with locations throughout the US, Latin America and the Caribbean, Sal managed the redesign and refurbishment of the Benihana restaurants while driving the development of RA Sushi & Haru Sushi. He also created and implemented a facilities & property management program across the three brands.
Currently, as the Executive Vice President of Design & Construction for The Procaccianti Group, a top 5 hotel & restaurant developer, owner and operator, he is managing new construction, renovation & re-positioning projects, capital programs, design, development, procurement & asset management. Under Sal’s leadership his department has completed over $250 Million in projects, and is the recipient of “Marriott’s Renovation of the Year”. He has also participated in $1 billion of acquisitions and development.
