FAIRFAX, Va.--Dec. 24, 2002--Dewberry recently promoted the following individuals from Associate to Senior Associate: Mark S. Montgomery, P.E.; Jerry W. Sparks, P.E., CFM; and Phillip J. Thiel, Fairfax, VA ; Ronald M. Mijan, P.E., Gaithersburg, MD; George A. Wigfield, PLS ; Lanham, MD; and Cash E. Davidson, P.E., Raleigh, NC.
Mr. Montgomery is Manager of the Hazardous Materials Department in Fairfax, VA. He has more than 15 years of experience in civil engineering and environmental management projects, including completing numerous environmental surveys and investigations, developing hazard mitigation and operation and maintenance plans, developing plans and specifications for abatement design, and performing general construction administration.
Mr. Sparks is Director of Program Resources under Dewberry's Flood Map Production Coordination Contract with the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the flood hazard mapping program. With more than 13 years NFIP mapping experience, his current areas of responsibility include customer service, program development, business and task management, and information technology. Prior to his current position, he served as the Program Development Team Director, responsible for special engineering projects, training and outreach, and technical documents. He assisted FEMA in the conceptualization, design, and implementation of its Map Modernization Plan and Cooperating Technical Partner initiative.
Mr. Thiel is Director of Geographical Information Services in Fairfax, VA. He has been involved in the GIS industry for more than 17 years, including: teaching GIS at the college level, successfully implementing two statewide GIS programs, founding and serving as President of the National State Geographic Information Council and serving as CEO for a GIS company. In his role as GIS Director at Dewberry, he oversees the department and assists others with successfully implementing GIS technology.
Mr. Mijan is a Senior Civil Engineer in Gaithersburg, MD. He has more than 26 years of experience in transportation, hydraulic, and highway engineering. Mr. Mijan's experience includes designing and preparing plans for grade establishment, stormwater drainage, culverts, paving, sediment control, stormwater management, and floodplain studies for residential subdivisions, public and private roads, commercial developments, and office buildings. He also obtains state and local agency approval and permits for the above projects.
Mr. Wigfield is Survey Chief and Assistant Branch Manager in Lanham, MD. He has extensive experience in all aspects of surveying and computing. His experience includes coordinating and scheduling construction stakeout, topographic and boundary surveys, and survey computations. He is responsible for the preparation/signing of all preliminary plans, record plats, right-of-ways, and easements. He also handles the cut-and-fill sheets necessary for installing utilities by contractors.
Mr. Davidson is Manager of the Building Services Department in Raleigh, NC. He is an Electrical Engineer and Registered Communications Distribution Designer with more than 18 years of experience in electrical systems and telecommunications. Mr. Davidson is responsible for the daily management of Raleigh's 20 MEPS professionals and technical personnel, and serves as Project Manager for a number of highly technical projects. His responsibilities include new business development, staff recruitment and retention, and client management.
