SAN JOSE, CA (June 12, 2001)?Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI) announced today the promotion of four key veteran staff members to Senior Vice President: Bruce Baxter, Senior Vice President of Production; Darrell Bender, Senior Vice President of Purchasing; Rudy Bergthold, Senior Vice President of Engineering; and James Medefesser, Senior Vice President of Energy Solutions. Cupertino Electric, a total power and energy solutions company, is one of the largest privately-held electrical contracting companies in the United States and is the largest electrical contractor in Silicon Valley.

?Cupertino Electric prides itself on its position as the leader in the delivery of premier power and infrastructure solutions within the technology industry,? said James S. Ryley, CEO of Cupertino Electric. ?Individually and collectively, these people have helped to shape the company into the industry leader that it is and have helped to drive the company to its current level of success. As we pioneer new ways to support businesses in California and nationwide, we need to make sure we?re positioned to take on the challenges of the day. Drawing on the talent and professional acumen of each of our newly-appointed senior vice presidents, we?re able to do just that.?

Mr. Baxter, a Cupertino Electric team member since 1982, has been a central figure in streamlining CEI?s operations and systems. Among his credits are the implementation of a corporate commissioning system; a training and development system for field staff; and continuous evolution of the firm?s safety standards. As Senior Vice President of Production, Mr. Baxter is responsible for field operations, production, safety, training, and quality assurance for all Cupertino Electric offices.

Mr. Bender, who joined Cupertino Electric in 1994, has streamlined the firm?s purchasing process and improved service and pricing from key vendors. As a result, the firm enjoys greater cost effectiveness in material acquisition. The Senior Vice President of Purchasing, Mr. Bender is responsible for corporate-wide purchasing requirements, supporting more than 2,600 electricians. With ?Golden Rule? respect for the supplier ingrained in the company culture, Mr. Bender has assisted Cupertino Electric in developing a remarkably loyal worldwide supplier network?of critical importance as CEI develops new business and new markets.

Mr. Bergthold started with Cupertino Electric in 1984. He is credited with developing the company?s design/build and engineering capabilities and bringing them to their present level of excellence. He has also been a driving force in helping CEI establish itself as a turnkey service company with unparalleled engineering expertise. As Senior Vice President of Engineering, Mr. Bergthold is currently involved in the design of sophisticated electrical infrastructure systems for various technology facilities, as well as the design and engineering of turnkey energy solutions.

Mr. Medefesser began his career with Cupertino Electric in 1984. While managing the firm?s industrial services division, CEI?s industrial services business grew from $2.5 million to $20 million per year. Mr. Medefesser has held positions as director of project management and estimating and vice president of operations.
