Centex Corporation Announces Four Promotions

DALLAS, Sept. 3 -- Centex Corporation (NYSE: CTX) has promoted four employees to new corporate executive positions:
-- Mark D. Kemp, 42, previously Vice President and Controller, was named Senior Vice President and Controller. Mr. Kemp joined Centex in 2002. Prior to joining Centex, he spent 19 years with Arthur Andersen, LLP, most recently as a partner in the Dallas office. Mr.Kemp holds a B.B.A. in accounting from Texas Tech University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
-- David A. Greenblatt, 43, previously Assistant General Counsel of Centex, added the title of Vice President. Mr. Greenblatt joined the company in 1993 as Associate General Counsel and has served in various roles for Centex and a number of its subsidiaries. Mr. Greenblatt holds a B.S. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from The University of Texas at Austin.
-- Paul M. Johnston, 48, previously Corporate Counsel of Centex, added the title of Vice President. Mr. Johnston joined Centex's corporate finance group in 2000 as Associate General Counsel. Prior to joining Centex, Mr. Johnston spent 20 years at Thompson & Knight LLP, where he was a partner in the firm's corporate finance and securities law practice. He received a B.A. and a J.D. from Texas Tech University.
-- Steven L. McDowell, 42, previously Managing Director of Business Risk Analysis, was named Vice President - Internal Audit. He joined the company in 2001 to direct the corporate audit function as well as company compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Prior to joining Centex, Mr. McDowell spent 10 years with Banc One Corporation's internal audit division. Mr. McDowell received a B.S. in finance from the University of Missouri and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Through its subsidiaries, Dallas-based Centex consistently ranks among the nation's largest homebuilders, mortgage originators and commercial contractors. The company also has operations in home services, including pest defense, and title and insurance services.
