NEW YORK, July 6 / Peter J. Davoren, president of Turner Construction Company, announced the following promotions at Turner's offices around the country, effective immediately.
* Nicholas T. Makes, senior vice president, director of national sales, based in the firm's Milford, Conn., office * R. Jeffrey Burnham, vice president, business development and preconstruction, Washington, D.C. * James M. Fraser, vice president and general manager, Miami * Mark E. Meranda, vice president and business manager, Miami * Thomas V. Reilly, vice president and general manager, Washington, D.C. * Scott M. Skidelsky, vice president, Florida, based in Orlando
Nicholas T. Makes was named senior vice president, director of national sales. He joined Turner's Philadelphia office in 1976. Makes transferred to Atlanta to serve as general manager from 1987 until 1990. He was then promoted to vice president and director of sales and marketing for the corporate office in New York. In 1993, Makes became the vice president and general manager of Turner's office in Milford, Conn., his most recent assignment. Makes holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in civil engineering from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.
R. Jeffrey Burnham was promoted to vice president of business development and preconstruction for the Washington, D.C., office. Burnham began his career with Turner in 1984 as a field engineer in the Boston office. In 1990, he was transferred to the Washington, D.C., office to service as a project manager in the special projects division. In 1991, Burnham was named a senior estimator. He was promoted to purchasing manager in 1998. In 2001, he was promoted to manager of business development, his most recent assignment. Burnham holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts and a master's of business administration from Marymount University in Arlington,Va.
James M. Fraser was named vice president and general manager of the Miami office. Fraser began his career with Turner in 1986 in the Connecticut office as a field engineer. Following assignments in the project management control systems group, the special projects division, and the purchasing department, Fraser was promoted to manager of business development in Connecticut where he worked from 1996 through 2001. He held this position until his promotion to interiors and special projects division manager, his most recent assignment. Fraser holds a bachelor's degree in civil and environmental engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y.
Mark E. Meranda was promoted to vice president and business manager of the Miami office. Meranda joined Turner in 1997 after a 27-year career in the Army where he performed various construction and engineering assignments. Initially assigned to the Columbus office in mid-1997, Mark transferred to the Washington, D.C., office later that year to serve as a regional manager. In that position, he was assigned responsibility for multiple projects in Baltimore, Md., Raleigh, N.C., and Washington, D.C. In 2000, Meranda was promoted to project executive and one year later to deputy operations manager. In mid-2001, he was promoted to vice president and operations manager for the Washington, D.C, office, his most recent assignment. Meranda holds a bachelor's degree in general engineering from the U.S. Military Academy and a master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, Ill.
Thomas V. Reilly was named vice president and general manager of the Washington, D.C., office. Reilly joined Turner in 1987 as a field engineer for the New Jersey business unit. In 1995, he was promoted to project engineer and later to project manager. He was named a project executive in 2000. Reilly was promoted to deputy operations manager for the New Jersey business unit in 2001. In 2002, he was named operations manager and transferred to the Aviation Security business unit. He most recently served as vice president and operations manager of the Government Services unit. Reilly holds bachelor's degrees in civil engineering and economics from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.
Scott M. Skidelsky was named vice president of the Florida region. In this role, he continues as the general manager of the Orlando business unit and also oversees the Miami business unit. Skidelsky began his career with Turner in business development and government contracts in the Washington, D.C., business unit. In 1997, he was named director of government contracts and led the government market segment for Turner throughout the country. Later that year, Skidelsky transferred to the Miami unit as manager of business development and in 2000 was promoted to vice president and business manager. In 2003, he was promoted to vice president and general manager of the Orlando office, his most recent assignment. Prior to joining Turner, Skidelsky was a lieutenant in the Civil Engineer Corps, United States Navy and the contracting officer at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in St. Mary's County, Md.
