Centex Construction Company Announces Personnel Additions and Promotions

FAIRFAX, Va.--May 18, 2004--The Mid Atlantic Division of Centex Construction Company announces the additions of Srinivasa Kalavapudi, project manager; Don Riegel, P.E., consultant, buildings systems engineering; and Wendy Thompson, P.E., project executive. In addition, Centex announces the promotions of Bryan Frady to project executive, Chris Hartzler to project manager, and Chris Kirkwood to superintendent.

Kalavapudi joins Centex as a project manager and is currently working on the F-22 Facilities at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. With over 23 years of construction experience, Kalavapudi worked on such projects as the Leachate Treatment Plants in Upper Marlboro, Md., Glenmont Metro Station in Silver Spring, Md., commercial and self storage facilities for both government and private clients, and numerous construction projects abroad, including work in the Netherlands and India. Kalavapudi earned a master of science degree from Andhra University in India in 1979.

Riegel joins Centex as a consultant in buildings systems engineering. He has over 36 years of professional experience in the areas of engineering design and documentation, construction, building operations and quality control, as well as engineering design assessments, peer and lender review, forensic engineering and investigations and expert witness. His resume includes such projects as the New Denver Library in Colorado and multiple projects for the Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, Wash. Riegel earned a bachelor of science degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1968 and is a licensed professional engineer.

Thompson joins Centex as a project executive and is pursuing work in the niche market of secure federal projects. With over 17 years of design, construction and program management experience, Thompson worked for the Department of Defense (DOD) at the Pentagon Renovation for almost 10 years before joining Centex. She managed for DOD the renovation of Wedges 2-5, a phased design-build renovation of over 4.5 million square feet of space. She also held several key leadership positions including chief of contract administration, acquisition team leader, Pentagon remote delivery facility program manager and Pentagon athletic facility program manager. Prior to her Pentagon assignment, Thompson managed design and construction projects for the U.S. Coast Guard in Hawaii, Japan and the Pacific Islands. Thompson earned a master of business administration degree from The Wharton School in 1998 and is a licensed professional engineer.

Promoted from senior project manager to project executive, Frady has been with Centex for 18 years. He is currently working on the E. Barrett Prettyman Courthouse Annex and Renovation in Washington, D.C. His construction experience includes the Womack Army Medical Center in Ft. Bragg, N.C., and the Levine Science Research Center at Duke University in Durham, N.C. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Radford University in 1985.

Promoted from assistant project manager to project manager, Hartzler has been with Centex for over five years. He is currently working on the E. Barrett Prettyman Courthouse Annex and Renovation in Washington, D.C., and the Pentagon Memorial in Arlington, Va. His construction experience also includes Quincy Tower in Arlington, Va., and Plaza America Phases I and II in Reston, Va. He earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1997.

Promoted from project engineer to superintendent, Kirkwood has been with Centex for four years. He is currently working on the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research Office Building Phase 2A in Silver Spring, Md. His construction experience also includes the Concourse B Four Gate Addition at Washington Dulles International Airport in Chantilly, Va., and the Metromedia Fiber Network ISX-VA-3 in Reston, Va. He earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1998.
