Turner Construction Company Announces National Promotions, New Executive Hires

NEW YORK, -- Peter J. Davoren, president of Turner Construction Company, announced the following promotions at Turner's offices around the country, effective immediately.
* Edward V. McNeill, senior vice president of operations, based in the firm's Orlando office;
* Christopher Carpenito, vice president, forecasting and analysis, New York;
* Stephen W. Fort, vice president and general manager, Chicago;
* Joseph P. Glowacki, vice president and operations manager, Texas region;
* Benjamin H. Kaplan, vice president and general manager, Turner Logistics, Hawthorne, N.Y.;
* David S. Reaves, vice president and operations manager, Orlando; Kevin R. Sharkey, vice president and manager, business development, New York;
* Gary E. Stradowski, vice president and operations manager, Healthcare, based in Washington, D.C.
Davoren also announced that Dr. Uwe Krueger joined The Turner Corporation as senior vice president of marketing and David B. Hiskey joined Turner Construction Company as vice president and general manager of the Pharmaceutical Group, Western region, based in Seattle.
Edward V. McNeill was named senior vice president of operations. He joined Turner's Boston office in 1979 as a field engineer and progressed through a number of field and management positions. He was transferred to the Chicago office as deputy operations manager in 1994 and in 1996, he was named vice president and operations manager for that office. In 1998, he was promoted to vice president and general manager of the Orlando office. In 2001, McNeill was named vice president of construction operations, his most recent assignment.McNeil holds a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering from Penn State University in State College, Pa.
Christopher Carpenito was promoted to vice president, forecasting and analysis. Carpenito joined Turner in 2001 as a financial manager supporting the cost-reporting department. Prior to Turner, he began his career at Arthur Andersen LLP in 1996 and served Turner as an auditor and audit manager forfour years. Carpenito is a certified public accountant and holds two bachelor's of science degrees, one in accounting and one in computer information systems,from Manhattan College in Riverdale, N.Y.
Stephen W. Fort was appointed vice president and general manager, Chicago. Fort began his career at Turner in 1999 in business development, after seven years as an officer in the United States Navy Civil Engineer Corps. Fort served tours with the Navy Seabees, as a project manager and finally as the executive aide to both the Commander, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Atlantic Division, and Commander, Second Naval Construction Brigade. In 2001, he was promoted to manager of business development of Turner's Chicago office. Fort was named vice president and business manager in 2002. In 2003, Fort was promoted to general manager, responsible for overall leadership and management of all business and construction operations activities of the Chicago office.Fort graduated from Penn State University in State College, Pa., with a bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering.
Joseph P. Glowacki was promoted to vice president and operations manager for the Texas region and will be based in Dallas. He began his career with Turner in the New York office as a field engineer in 1985. He progressed through various field and management assignments and, in 1996, was promoted to operations manager of the New York Interiors Group. In his most recent assignment, Glowacki served as project executive on the Kings County State and Family Supreme Court in Brooklyn, N.Y Glowacki received a bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.
Benjamin H. Kaplan was appointed vice president and general manager for Turner Logistics, LLC. Kaplan joined Turner in 1987 and was assigned to the New York Special Projects Division (SPD). He progressed through various SPD assignments and, in 1995, was promoted to purchasing manager in the Philadelphia office. In 2001, he was promoted to general manager for the Philadelphia SPD. Kaplan holds a bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa., and a master's of science degree in real estate development and investment from New York University in New York City.
David S. Reaves was promoted to vice president and operations manager in Orlando. Reaves joined Turner's Cincinnati office during his senior year in college as an engineering assistant on the Duke Hospital North project. In 1980, he was assigned to the Washington, D.C., office as a field engineer and became a project management control systems engineer. In 1981, he transferred to Turner International and was involved in international projects until 1989 when he transferred to the Connecticut office as project engineer. In 1994, Reaves was assigned to Connecticut's Special Projects Division (SPD) as a project manager, promoted to SPD manager and, in 2000, transferred to the Washington, D.C., office where he was named manager for that office's SPD operation. Reaves was promoted to operations manager of the Orlando office in 2003, his most recent assignment. Reaves holds a bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering from Duke University in Durham, N.C.
Kevin R. Sharkey was named vice president and manager, business development, New York. Sharkey joined Turner in 1985 as a field engineer in Detroit. He progressed through various field and management assignments and, in 1999, he transferred to the New York office as manager, business development, for the New York Interiors division. In 2002 he was promoted to manager, business development, for the New York office. Sharkey holds a bachelor's of science degree in construction management from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Gary E. Stradowski was promoted to vice president and operations manager, Healthcare, based in Washington, D.C. He joined Turner in 1984 as an assistant mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) superintendent and transferred to Miami in 1986. In 1987, Stradowski was named MEP superintendent and later promoted to project superintendent. He then spent ten years as a project manager and director of facilities for two healthcare systems in the Southeast. Gary rejoined Turner in 1997 and progressed through various managerial assignments, including operations manager, Healthcare, his most recent position.
Dr. Uwe Krueger joined The Turner Corporation as senior vice president, marketing, based in Dallas, Texas. Krueger previously served as chief executive officer for the Central and Eastern European operations for HOCHTIEF, Turner's parent company. Prior to that, he headed HOCHTIEF Polska in Warsaw, Poland. Krueger also worked for management consultant, A.T. Kearney, in New York, N.Y. and Stuttgart, Germany in 1993, consulting with a variety of automotive and heavy engineering multinationals in North America, Europe and Asia. Krueger studied physics, chemistry and economics at the University of Frankfurt, Germany, at Columbia University, New York, N.Y., and at the Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS) in Paris, France. He received his doctoral degree in complex theory and brain research from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany.
David B. Hiskey rejoined Turner as vice president and general manager of the Pharmaceutical Group, Western region, based in Seattle. Hiskey brings to Turner more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry. He began his career at Turner in 1983 and left in 1985 to pursue other opportunities. Most recently, Hiskey was senior vice president of the Western region science and technology division of a major building company, where he was responsible for growing the firm's pharmaceutical and biotech business and operations. Hiskey holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz.
