01/16/2005

Black & Veatch Corporation, a leading global engineering, consulting and construction company, has announced the appointment of Dave Hunt as a senior vice president and manager of the Midwest region and Steve Phillips as manager of the Kansas City regional office within the Americas Division of the company?s Water Sector. Effective August 1, Hunt and Phillips will assume managerial roles previously held by incoming Americas Division President Dan McCarthy.

?Both Dave Hunt and Steve Phillips have made major contributions to the water and wastewater industries in the Midwest over the years,? said McCarthy. ?Their proven track record of service to our clients and leadership within our profession led to these promotions.?

In addition to his new role as regional manager, Dave Hunt will continue to serve as manager of the company?s Chicago office. His 31 years of experience include 23 with Black & Veatch managing numerous water, wastewater and environmental projects throughout the Midwest region, where he is a registered Professional Engineer in five states.

Steve Phillips has provided studies, design, construction-related and design-build services to water and wastewater utilities throughout the Midwest for more than 30 years, most recently as principle-in-charge or project manager. A vice president of Black & Veatch Corporation, Phillips is also the immediate past president of the Kansas Water Environment Association and a past national director of the Water Environment Federation. He is registered in six states.

?We will continue to combine local commitment with global technology expertise to provide utilities and government agencies with enduring, cost-effective solutions,? said McCarthy. ?Dave will work closely with Steve and the other Midwest region office managers to apply traditional engineering, emerging technologies and alternative delivery approaches to infrastructure and environmental improvements for our clients.?
