BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.--Jan. 19, 2004-- Company to be recognized at International Builders' Show in Las Vegas January 21 The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Builder Magazine have named WCI Communities, Inc., (NYSE:WCI) America's Best Builder.
A highly competitive and premiere honor for national homebuilders, WCI was recognized as America's Best Builder, in the 501-plus closing category based on the evaluation of a wide spectrum of company operations including: financial performance, marketing, product design, customer service, quality and community involvement. In particular, WCI was noted for not just providing a home to buyers, but for delivering a fully developed and expertly managed lifestyle that delivers the experience of living in a luxurious Florida resort.
"Most builders excel in one discipline -- be it customer service, great product design, construction know-how, or financial planning," said Boyce Thompson, editor-in-chief of BUILDER magazine, the leading magazine for the residential building industry. "These companies manage to do it all. That takes incredible energy and focus."
A panel of 10 industry judges selected the America's Best Builder honorees in September based on their outstanding performance in five areas of running a home building business, which are finance/operations; customer service/quality; community/industry service; design/construction; and marketing. In addition to WCI, two additional homebuilders have been recognized in the 1-25 and 101-500 annual closings categories.
"Being named America's Best Builder is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of WCI's 2,900 employees," stated Al Hoffman, WCI's chief executive officer. "It's through the innovative efforts of the entire WCI team that we're able to continue delivering great lifestyles and building lasting relationships with our customers."
WCI is known for moving beyond traditional homebuilding to creating communities that embrace distinct lifestyles sought by today's consumers. With more than 30 communities in Florida, the leading state in the country for new home sales (11% of the total number of permits issued nationwide last year) WCI has been successful in anticipating consumer trends in housing and raising the bar for luxury living, second homes, tower lifestyles, active adult living and most recently, green building.
WCI will be honored by the National Association of Home Builders and Builder Magazine on Wednesday, Jan. 21, in Las Vegas, during the International Builders' Show.
