COLUMBIA, Md.---Nov. 24, 2003--Officials of The Rouse Company (NYSE:RSE) announced today that Donna M. Sills has been named Vice President and Director of Corporate Compliance. Ms. Sills has been Vice President and Associate General Counsel for the Company. In her new role, she will supervise the compliance functions of the Company and its subsidiaries, including compliance with (1) all laws and legal requirements, (2) the Company's internal policies, including ethics policies, and (3) procedures to identify and minimize enterprise risks associated with the Company's businesses. <p> In her new role, Ms. Sills will report directly to the Company's Chairman and CEO, Anthony W. Deering. Reporting to her will be the Director of Internal Controls and Accounting Policies. She will serve as the liaison with employees responsible for implementing compliance programs in the Company's business units and professional disciplines. <p> Ms. Sills is a 1974 graduate of the University of Michigan and she received a J.D. degree from George Washington University Law School in 1980. From 1980-1987 she was an associate and then partner at Whiteford, Taylor and Preston in Baltimore. Ms. Sills joined The Rouse Company in 1988, and was elected a Vice President in 1998. <p> Ms. Sills has been a member of the Board of Directors of The ARC of Baltimore, Inc. (formerly BARC) since 1989, having served as its President from 1996-1998. She lives in Phoenix, Md. and is married to Michael Sloneker.
