DALLAS, -- Centex Homes has been named residential construction's "Most Admired Big Builder" and judged to have superior leadership, management, operational excellence and efficiency, according to a survey of its homebuilding peers.
Centex Homes received these accolades in winning three APEX Awards from Hanley Wood, the leading business-to-business media company serving the housing and construction industry.
The awards, created by Hanley Wood and its
Big Builder magazine, allow homebuilders across the nation to recognize others in their field who engage in exemplary corporate practices.
Andy Hannigan, chairman and chief executive officer of Centex Homes, said,"To have the respect of your peers, especially in a competitive industry such as ours, is especially gratifying. Since The APEX Awards are based on a nationwide survey of our industry, this is a testament to the exceptional efforts of our employees across the country."
The APEX Award winners were chosen using an electronic survey, sent out nationally via e-mail to readers of Big Builder and Builder magazines. A third party administered the survey. Any builder from the Hanley Wood 2002 "Builder 100" list of the nation's biggest builders was eligible to win.
In addition to the "Most Admired Big Builder" award for receiving the most overall points in the survey, Centex Homes received The APEX Awards for garnering the most votes for "best leadership and management" and "best operational excellence and efficiency."
Survey respondents placed Centex Homes second behind Habitat for Humanity International in the category for "best job delivering affordable housing." Centex Homes has a longtime relationship with the nonprofit organization, which is dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. Centex Homes is in the midst of a five-year, $5 million commitment to Habitat for Humanity to build the equivalent of 100 homes.
The APEX Awards were distributed recently at the Big Builder '03 conference in Las Vegas.
