WASHINGTON, -- Kathy Wilmot, vice president of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) member firm, Wilmot Modular Structures, White Marsh, Md. joined congressional leaders to speak at a Capitol Hill rally yesterday to highlight the positive impact that the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003 has had on the U.S. economy.
Wilmot told lawmakers that her family-owned company grew approximately 34 percent this year and that she was able to hire 11 more workers and buy more equipment because of the president's tax relief plan. "The Jobs and Growth package... enabled us to invest in new equipment and to employ more workers," said Wilmot. "It also put more money in the pockets of my employees. By reducing income tax rates at all levels, my hard-working employees kept more money, which they, in turn, put back into the economy."
Wilmot urged Congress to keep the president's Jobs and Growth package intact. "Any rollback will raise my taxes and hinder the economic upturn we are experiencing," she said.
In 2005, Wilmot will assume the chairmanship of the ABC's Baltimore chapter. Having strongly supported the president's Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003, ABC opposes any attempt to roll back these pro-growth policies.
"As ABC member Kathy Wilmot noted, construction firms, small businesses across America and their employees are far better off today because of President Bush's jobs and economic growth package," said Kirk Pickerel, ABC president and CEO. "We salute the U.S. Congress for providing real tax relief to America's working families, the jobs they are creating and the economic growth we are seeing today is a direct result of the wise economic policies that the Bush administration and the U.S. Congress have supported."
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) is a national association representing more than 23,000 merit shop construction and construction related firms in 80 chapters across the United States.
