Charlottesville, VA - The University of Virginia (UVA) has selected Gilbane Building Company to provide Construction Management services for the 22,000 square-foot historic renovation and 100,000 square-foot addition to Rouss Hall.
This facility will bring the McIntire School of Commerce back to the historic Lawn of the University. The building is designed to promote interdisciplinary studies and foster a cohesive learning environment in keeping with Thomas Jefferson?s intentions. Two classrooms will be shared with the College of Arts and Sciences as the primary location for collaborative learning programs. Ten high-tech classrooms will feature smart podiums, tiered seating, AV/IT and Telecom teaching systems. A state-of-the-art trading floor, enlarged student common with 24-hour dining areas, student lounges and meeting rooms will enhance the integration of the McIntire School within the University community. Design is being provided by Hartman-Cox Architects. Construction will commence January 2004 with a scheduled completion of March 2006.
John Taylor, will serve as Project Executive; David Steger, as Senior Project Manager; and Ed Koppelman as Quality Control Superintendent.
