BuildPoint Corporation, the construction industry's leader in provider relationship management (PRM), announced today that it has expanded its PRM 2 subcontractor management solution to include the SubCenter service. With the launch of SubCenter, BuildPoint introduces the industry's first online subcontractor service portal automating the exchange of information between general contractors and subcontractors. Subcontractors will access the SubCenter portals directly from the corporate Web sites of general contractors using BuildPoint's PRM 2 solution.
By enabling subcontractors to "self-serve", the SubCenter service will enable BuildPoint's customers to more efficiently provide project information to their subcontractors and collect pre-qualification information from them. The new SubCenters, which are maintained and hosted by BuildPoint, provide the ability for general contractors to:
Collect subcontractor data with customized pre-qualification form; Post information, including plans, specifications, and related transmittals, about public and private bid projects; Display general messages and files for viewing and downloading; Receive and track subcontractors' correspondence and bids; Approve subcontractor-entered data before making it available to all staff; Customize configuration of corporate-wide subcontractor database; and Customize the SubCenter with corporate logo and color scheme "One of the remarkable strengths of BuildPoint is that general contractors can have the PRM 2 solution, including the new SubCenter service, successfully customized and implemented within 30 days," said Mike Krueger, president and COO of BuildPoint.
SubCenters for industry leading general contractors including The Pankow Companies, R.D. Olson Construction (www.rdolson.com), Sordoni Skanska, Inc. (www.sordoniskanska.com), and Swinerton Builders (www.swinerton.com) will launch in coming weeks.
The Pankow Companies Exclusively Selects BuildPoint's PRM 2 Subcontractor Management Solution The Pankow Companies (Pankow), a leading national design-builder with annual revenues in excess of $400M, has expanded its use of BuildPoint's PRM 2 subcontractor management solution to all six of its branch offices. Pankow has been successfully using PRM 2's SubQual service for subcontractor pre-qualification in its Oakland, California and Altadena, California offices. The decision to expand usage was based largely on the success of these two offices, which have used SubQual to pre-qualify more than 1000 subcontractors, as well as the new features that BuildPoint added to its PRM 2 solution.
In evaluating subcontractor management solutions, Pankow was seeking:
A centralized, real-time repository for managing subcontractor data, including bonding information and references, from each branch office; Efficient, standardized processes for subcontractor pre-qualification and performance management; and The ability to increase subcontractors' comfort with providing pre-qualification information and managing project information online "We realized that we had a critical need for a solution to manage complex and ever-changing subcontractor information. We considered building our own Intranet-based subcontractor management system, but decided against this approach because BuildPoint's PRM 2 solution immediately provided everything we were seeking. We were impressed by BuildPoint's ease-of-use, flexibility, and comprehensiveness," said Kim Petersen, chief financial officer for Pankow. "PRM 2 will have a significant positive impact on our bottom line."
Petersen has determined that, by September 2002, every subcontractor working on Pankow's construction projects will be pre-qualified with BuildPoint.
"Forward-thinking companies like Pankow understand that effective management of subcontractor pre-qualification, performance, and pricing information will yield significant return on investment. Our customers identify their top performing subcontractors and receive the best combination of price and performance from them," said Mike Krueger, president and COO of BuildPoint.
BuildPoint Improves Functionality and Experience for Subcontractors With BuildPoint's advanced features and improved interface, the SubCenters provide subcontractors with such benefits as:
A universal login, called the SubCenter Passport, for accessing all SubCenters, where they can view open projects, receive information about and bid on projects, and provide pre-qualification information to general contractors; Streamlined workflows and a more personalized experience; and the Ability to manage communication from multiple general contractors and centralize their pre-qualification information online. Subcontractors maintain complete control over which general contractors may access their data.
