BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich.--Oct. 16, 2003--Pulte Homes (NYSE:PHM) announced today that its Board of Directors has named Steven C. Petruska as the Company's new Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective January 1, 2004. Mr. Petruska fills a position left vacant when Richard J. Dugas, Jr. assumed his current position as the Company's President and Chief Executive Officer in July 2003.
In his new role, Mr. Petruska will oversee all of Pulte's domestic homebuilding operations, which span 44 markets and 25 states. He will also be responsible for those centralized functions that have a direct impact on field operations including product development, sales and marketing, segmentation, active adult development, construction, purchasing and customer service related activities.
"Throughout his 19-year career with Pulte Homes, Steve has proven himself to be an excellent business operator and an innovative leader," said Mr. Dugas. "In leading our Arizona and Nevada operations, Steve and his team were among the best in the areas we feel are critical to delivering long-term business success. His operations consistently ranked among our highest in unit and revenue growth, return on capital, customer satisfaction, people development and other key measures."
Since joining Pulte Homes in 1984, Mr. Petruska has held a number of management positions. Most recently he was Area President for Pulte Homes' Arizona and Nevada operations, which in 2002 delivered almost 6,000 homes valued at more than $1.4 billion in revenues. Mr. Petruska has also served as the President of the Southwest Region and as President of the Company's Las Vegas Division. Mr. Petruska started his career with Pulte Homes as the Vice President of Finance for the South Texas Division.
Mr. Petruska is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
Pulte Homes also announced today the promotions of Patrick J. Beirne to Regional President -- West and Jeffrey K. Parsigian to Regional President -- East. The position of Regional President is a new role within the Company's organization. Messrs. Beirne and Parsigian will report directly to Mr. Petruska.

"As Regional Presidents, Patrick and Jeff will work closely with each of our markets to drive key initiatives that focus on profitable growth through segmentation, product quality, customer satisfaction, operational excellence and people development."
Mr. Beirne has been with Pulte Homes for 17 years, most recently as the Midwest Area President overseeing the Company's operations in Illinois, Minnesota and Missouri. Over his career, Mr. Beirne has also held positions as President of the Company's Illinois and Indianapolis Divisions. Mr. Beirne began his career with Pulte Homes in homebuilding operations. He is a graduate of Michigan State University.
During his 20 years with the Company, Mr. Parsigian has held a number of important management roles within the Company including his most recent position as President - Great Lakes Region, overseeing operations in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee. Mr. Parsigian has also been President of the Company's Michigan Division, after having served as the Executive Vice President of Operations for this division. He joined Pulte Homes in 1984 as part of the internal audit team. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan.
