InQuest Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of collaborative solutions for Infrastructure Lifecycle Management (ILM), today announced that the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA) has deployed InQuest Construction LS, a web-based ILM solution, to improve project communication, increase productivity and prevent costly schedule delays across major construction projects.
The LA MTA required a system that could be hosted on their internal web site to facilitate the linking of existing MTA Construction systems; the ability to redline CAD drawings during the design, review, submittals and change control processes and seamlessly integrate with the Microsoft Office Suite. InQuest Technologies met the LA MTA solution needs with Construction LS.
Construction LS was implemented on LA MTA's first major construction project in January 2002. "After only four months of using Construction LS, our project communication has increased exponentially. This is a major step toward our goal of increasing productivity and improving project decision making by having all project players reading from the same electronic page," said Dennis Partridge, Manager, Change Control and Construction Systems, LA MTA. "The ability to instantly recall historical data from an easily accessible Internet source to aid in future decision making cannot be underrated. The next steps include seamlessly linking our key project and document control systems to Construction LS, and the ultimate adoption of electronic signature technology."
Currently, the LA MTA is using Construction LS for the Universal Fare Collection System project that will introduce Smart Cards and Media Readers across multiple agencies' multi-modal public transportation systems. Implementation of the system is also beginning on four other new major projects (two light rail and two bus fixed guideway lines) totaling over $1.7B. When fully implemented it is expected that Construction LS will be collectively used on a regular basis by over 500 LA MTA project team members from numerous locations for projects that extend to at least December 2008.
"We're excited about our relationship with the LA MTA," said Michael Colapietro, President, InQuest Technologies. "It will be InQuest's continuing goal to provide the service, support and technological advancements that will enable the LA MTA to complete construction projects more efficiently, ahead of schedule and under budget."
