Robert Buck Joins Beacon Roofing Supply as President/CEO

PEABODY, Mass.--Oct. 10, 2003--Beacon Roofing Supply, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert R. Buck as its new president and chief executive officer.
Buck comes from Cintas Corporation where he was president of the Uniform Rental Division. Under his stewardship that division's annual sales increased over 300 percent from $600 million to $2.5 billion. Buck spent over 20 years at Cintas where he was also senior vice president of finance and senior vice president of operations. In 1983 he oversaw Cintas's initial public offering.

Buck led his Cintas division through the acquisition of their third and fifth largest competitors. He increased employees from 4,800 to 20,000, grew a sales organization from 200 to 1200 salespeople, instituted a new sales process, and oversaw the creation of effective marketing/advertising campaigns. Under Buck's leadership, Cintas was placed on the Forbes Platinum List and became one of Fortune Magazine's Most Admired Companies.
Beacon Roofing Supply, Inc. is a corporation of highly-respected regional suppliers of quality roofing and building materials in North America. The company is active in the New England marketplace with Beacon Sales Company, in the mid-Atlantic states with Quality Roofing Supply, Inc., in the greater Washington, D.C./Baltimore area with The Roof Center, in Virginia and the Carolinas with Best Distributing Co., in Texas with West End Lumber, in eastern Canada with Groupe Bedard and in central Canada with Beacon Roofing Supply Canada Company. Beacon has plans for continued acquisitions in other regions of the continent.

Buck has a B.A. in Business Administration with a focus on finance and economics from the University of Cincinnati and did post-graduate work in business at George Washington University. He is also a certified public accountant (CPA).
