ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Sept. 8 -- SUMMIT Electric Supply, head-quartered in Albuquerque, ranked as the 31st largest electrical distributors in the nation in 2002, according to Electrical Wholesaling Magazine. SUMMIThas Service Centers at Albuquerque, Farmington, Santa Fe and Los Alamos in New Mexico; at San Antonio, Austin, Beaumont, Clute, Corpus Christi, Dallas, ElPaso, Fort Worth, Houston, Killeen, La Porte and Lufkin in Texas; at Gonzales, Broussard, and New Orleans in Louisiana; and in Phoenix, AZ.<p>The magazine's prestigious "Top 200" list serves as an annual ranking of the nation's country's largest wholesale electrical distributors. The just-released 2002 list puts SUMMIT at #31, up from #34 in 2001.<p>The magazine noted that SUMMIT bucked the trend in declining sales that has affected other national companies. SUMMIT posted a +3% increase in salesin 2002 as compared to 2001. "The electrical industry has been through another tough year, and the decline in business is reflected by the sales figures reported by the companies listed in the Top 200," write magazineeditors. "Overall, companies in this listing reported a sales decline of 3.6 percent." Four of the top ten distributors reported a sales decrease ranging from -4.5% to -18%.<p>"We attribute our success and growth during this difficult era to our Sales Associates," said SUMMIT president and CEO, Victor R. Jury, Jr. "Theyare the real force behind our continued success during these tough economic times."<P>SUMMIT anticipates an even higher ranking on the 2003 list. The sales figures used to calculate this rank only included the 11 SUMMIT Service Centers in operation prior to the company's acquisition of Warren Electric Group, at the end of 2002.
