Perini Tops Out Las Ventanas, Southern Nevada's First Retirement Community

LAS VEGAS---Sept. 9, 2003--Perini Building Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Perini Corporation (AMEX:PCR), hoisted the final steel beam on Southern Nevada's first full-service life care retirement complex marking a major milestone on the project.
Perini's construction contract includes building two residential complexes. Each apartment unit is being built according to the owner's individual preference. Floor plans include a full-kitchen, washer, dryer, and balcony. Upgrades such as fireplaces, fixtures, tile, and carpet are also available.
In addition to the residential units, Perini has completed the community's Wellness Center with a covered lap pool, a fitness room, and a Cyber Cafe equipped with Internet connection. Under construction is a 26,000 square-foot Community Center that has private and open dining, a salon, barbershop, living room and library.
Greystone Communities awarded Perini the $27 million construction contract to build phase one of Las Ventanas, which is located outside of Las Vegas in the masterplanned community of Summerlin.
According to Betsy Usher, project manager for Perini Building Company, "We are on a 14-month construction schedule and have committed to deliver the project February 14, 2004."
Three Architecture, Inc. of Dallas designed the life care community as a multi-generational community. When complete, Las Ventanas will offer independent living, assisted living as well as skilled nursing care.
"We are thrilled to be associated with Southern Nevada's first life care retirement community. Even with five months of construction remaining, 95% of phase one is already sold out," said Dick Rizzo, chairman of Perini Building Company. In Florida, Perini is building La Posada, another retirement community with Greystone Communities.
