Johnson Named President and CEO of Centex Construction Company

Robert C. Van Cleave, chairman of Dallas-based Centex Construction Group, has named Rick Johnson his successor as president and chief executive officer of Dallas-based Centex Construction Company.
Mr. Johnson, who has twenty years of experience in the industry, joined the company as an office engineer in 1983, straight out of college. He has continued to accept greater levels of responsibility within the company, most recently serving as senior vice president of operations.
In his new role, Mr. Johnson will oversee the business strategy, relationship focus, and corporate culture for the company, which serves the Southwestern United States. Concentrating on the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, the company performs approximately $300 million in revenues each year and operates as a member of Centex Construction Group, which generates over $1.5 billion in annual revenue across the United States.
Mr. Johnson was raised in Gulfport, Miss. where he graduated in 1983 with a bachelor of science degree in Construction Technology from the University of Southern Mississippi. In addition to his responsibilities at Centex,
Mr. Johnson also serves as an active member of the Design-Build Institute of America, the Construction Management Association of America, and the Legislative Committee of the Associated Builders and Contractors of America.
