Ed Small Named President of J.A. Jones Construction

Ed Small has been named president of J.A. Jones Construction Co., a division of J.A. Jones, Inc., effective immediately. Small replaces John Bond, who resigned last week. Small has more than 30 years' experience in the construction industry and has been with J.A. Jones for more than 16 years. Most recently, he was president of J.A. Jones/Tompkins Builders in Washington, D.C., and senior vice president and regional manager of J.A. Jones Construction Co. In these roles, he oversaw J.A. Jones operations in Washington, D.C., New York, N.Y., and Los Angeles, Calif.
As president, Small is accountable for J.A. Jones Construction's strategic direction and profitability, as well as providing corporate oversight of the company's administration, processes and operations.

Small has extensive experience in all phases of commercial construction. After graduating from California State University in 1968, he began his construction career as a materials manager, moving into field supervision, and quickly advancing into senior management.
Small joined J.A. Jones/Tompkins Builders in 1985. Since then, his positions have included senior vice president and construction executive and president. In 2001, he accepted additional duties as the senior vice president overseeing J.A. Jones' offices in Los Angeles, Calif., and New York, N.Y. Under Small's leadership, J.A. Jones/Tompkins Builders has secured numerous projects, including the construction of the $54,000,000 National WW II Memorial on the National Mall, the International Monetary Fund headquarters building, the Securities and Exchange Commission headquarters and modernization of the Smithsonian's Air & Space Museum.
Small serves on the GSA Construction Excellence Peer Program, Washington, DC Board of Trade and the Board of Directors of the Associated Building Contractors of Metropolitan Washington. He is married and has two children. He and his family will remain in Washington, D.C.
