Builders FirstSource, Inc. announced today the merging of its Northeast Group division into its Atlantic Group. The Northeast Group consists of the company's New Jersey locations. The Atlantic Group is comprised of operations in Maryland, Virginia, Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina, Nashville, Tampa, Orlando, and Atlanta.
The New Jersey region of the Atlantic Group will be led by Jerry Thompson as Market Manager. Jerry has 34 years of industry experience. Most recently he served as Vice President of Operations for Wilson Brothers for five years. Prior to Wilson Brothers, Thompson spent nine years at Builder's Supply & Lumber, a predecessor of Builders FirstSource. While there, he served as a Location Manager, as well as, Vice President of Operations.
Kevin Higgins, President of the Northeast Group, has resigned to pursue other interests.
Builders FirstSource Chairman and CEO Floyd Sherman commented, "We are always seeking to improve customer service and reduce costs. Merging these operations accomplishes both objectives. Our Atlantic Group's North East, Maryland location has served customers in New Jersey for many years. Placing North East, Maryland and our New Jersey locations in the same division will allow us to seamlessly serve customers throughout the state."
Sherman continued, "We are also pleased to have Jerry Thompson rejoin the company. He has built an outstanding track record of delivering superior results."
With this combination, Builders FirstSource now consists of three operating divisions: the Atlantic Group, Central Group (Texas, Colorado, Ohio and Kentucky), and Southeast Group (Southeastern United States).
