Katy, Texas. National award winning Building designer and Interior Designer Newell Cheatheam, President of Newell's Designs, www.newellsdesigns.com and Polhemus Engineering Co. of Katy, Texas have completed project plans for a two story 16,000 s.f. Katy Christian Ministries - Social Services Building, to be built at Fifth Street and Katy Ft. Bend Rd, Katy, TX. The 8,000-second floor will be left unfinished for future expansion.
Katy Christian Ministries is a non-profit organization that has over 25 churches that contribute support to their annual budget. Newell's Designs is an award winning design firm winning numerous national and state design awards. The building will have a metal structure, stone, and hard plank exterior, with a country look. The building will provide community services for administration, domestic abuse center, food pantry, social services, storage, tri county interfaith ministry, and public meeting rooms. This is just one building in the future long planning goals of KCM on a 5-acre tract to meet the needs of the Katy Community and surrounding areas.
Cheatheam is building consultant and interior designer consultant for the project and Polhemus Engineering Co. is structural/building consultant engineer. Fretz Construction Company is the General Contractor, Houston, Texas. Civil Design by Weisser Engineering Co., Katy, TX; Plumbing Design-Raven Mechanical, Houston, Tx; Air Conditioning Design-GH Air Conditioning, Houston, Tx; Electrical Design-Lakey Electric, Houston, Tx; Fire System Design-HG River Systems, Houston, Tx., and Rosslyn Building Systems, Houston, Texas is providing metal building design. The proposed ground breaking is February 19th if all goes on schedule.
Newell's Designs and Polhemus Engineering Co. have designed numerous commercial projects in Katy and surrounding areas for over 30 years. Newell Cheatheam, AIBD, CPBD, a certified professional building designer, licensed interior designer and president of Newell's Designs, has been very active in numerous organizations, including Katy Chamber of Commerce, Governmental Affairs committee and Ambassadors committee of the chamber, Westland Baptist Church, Board member of Texas Institute of Building Design, former commissioner of the Katy Building and Standards Commission, organized the Katy Area Jaycees in 1979, 1989 helped organize and chairman (3 years) of the Katy Ducks Unlimited Committee, 1990-2002 zone chairman of Tx Ducks Unlimited, state council member of Texas Ducks Unlimited. Cheatheam is listed in numerous ?Who Who?s?, just a few including Who?s Who In Texas 1985-1986 by Who?s Who Historical Society, Five Thousand Personalities of The World, Edt. 2 and Edt 6 of The American Biographical Institute Inc, Emerging Leaders of America, Who? Who in the South and Southwest 20th edt 1986-1987 by Marquis Who?s Who. Cheatheam has lived in Katy for over 25 years and calling chairman for the Texas State Championship Duck Calling Contest that is held in Katy, Texas each year. The calling champion represents Texas in the Worlds Championship Duck Calling Contest in Stuttgart, Arkansas in November of each year.
Cheatheam said he is excited in working with Katy Christian Ministries organization as design consultant for their future building facilities to meet the needs of the Katy community by bringing community services of KCM into one location and better organized.
