INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 8 - The Indiana office of Turner Construction Company has been chosen as construction manager to oversee approximately $450 million of work for the Indianapolis International Airport's new Midfield Terminal, part of a nearly $1 billion program at the airport. Turner Construction Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Turner Corporation, the nation's leading general builder. Turner is one of two primary construction managers for the airport program. Turner, in conjunction with associate construction managers Trotter Construction Company and Shiel Sexton, both of Indianapolis, and Harmon Construction of North Vernon, Ind., will take the lead on the airside and landside improvements for the 7,000-acre site. Work will include utility line placement, runway and internal roadway paving, installation of aviation specific items including jet bridges and de-icing systems, construction of a parking garage/rental car facility, as well as administrative and support buildings. Phase I of the assignment, comprised mostly of site work, will begin in the first quarter of 2003. The overall project is scheduled for completion by July 2007. Turner's Indiana office is currently managing construction work for several prestigious projects, including a new performing arts center at the University of Notre Dame and a $100 million expansion of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library.
